Protect & Survive:
A 3D 1983 Nuclear Survival Guide

After finding a manual from the year being studied, 1983 in this case, students had to turn it into a 3D, visually engaging version. The manual chosen was called “Protect and Survive” and was produced in the UK during the Cold War to inform families how to make their homes as safe as possible in case of nuclear attack.

I turned the manual into a nesting doll-style house, where each chapter became an insert inside the house.

Key Project Elements

The manual had to still be functional while being able to effectively deliver all the information within the manual in a visually compelling way, so making the visual hierarchy clear on each page was critical to the overall design of the 3D version of the manual.
